A taste of the highlands
The wild blueberry of Ardèche grows between 600 and 1 meters above sea level. Up there, there are no pesticides or large-scale crops: just moors, forests, and the occasional cow watching the pickers go by. It's neither calibrated nor cloned: each berry has its own personality. And that's precisely what makes it so addictive.
Small bay, big powers
Beneath its summer fruit appearance, wild blueberries hide a little treasure trove of benefits: antioxidant, good for eyesight, memory, and even digestion.
It grows at high altitudes, on acidic soils, often in the shade of tall pine trees or in quiet clearings. A true concentrate of nature... with a sublime taste.
It stains your fingers, it turns your tongue blue, it makes you wince with happiness. And in a pie, let's be honest, it has no rival.

It is little known, but the Ardèche is the leading department producing wild blueberries in FranceUp to 400 tonnes are harvested each year, by hand, in the summer pastures and undergrowth of the Ardèche plateau. All this without intensive cultivation or noisy machinery: here, we respect the rhythm of nature and that of the picker.
The harvesting of wild blueberries is regulated to avoid excesses. In the Monts d'Ardèche Regional Natural Park, it is particularly forbidden to pull up plants. In other words: pick with respect, leave them for others (including foxes), and avoid sports bags full to the zipper.

In season, fresh blueberries are snapped up at the market like a smuggled treasure, often early in the morning and sold by those in the know. For the rest of the year (or for those with a foresighted appetite), blueberry jams, syrups, juices, sorbets, and even vinegars can be found in producers' shops and at our gourmet artisans. A word of advice: don't leave without slipping a jar or two into your suitcase. We won't judge you. We promise.
