Antraigues – Le château de Craux

From the INFO RANDO sign near the Intercommunal Tourist Office, head towards the village square and take the first calade (paved alley) which descends to the left, behind the Ferrat house. Follow the calade which descends in switchbacks to the Gamond bridge (Caution: the path can be very slippery when the stones are wet!).

➤ PONT DE GAMOND: After crossing the bridge, turn left (tarmac path) for 50m then take the path that climbs on the right above a stone wall. Follow the markings to the Col de Genestelle. This section skirts the northern flanks of the Neck de Craux (volcanic chimney), draped in basalt scree resulting from the collapse of the chimney. Follow this path to the "Col de Genestelle".

➤ COL DE GENESTELLE: Take the road on your right towards Antraïgues (the Red). This leads you to Craux Castle. Currently undergoing restoration, it is not open to the public. The surrounding land is farmed by farmers; please respect the pastures and the tranquility of the area.
From the castle, continue on the road for around 500m until you reach the “Le Rouge” signpost.

➤ LE ROUGE: take the small road that descends to the right for 20m then leave it for the path that plunges to the left and joins the hamlet of Valgironne. At the first houses, take the path that goes flat on your right and brings you back to the "Pont de Gamond". This cross-country path overlooks the Volane valley and offers beautiful views of the village of Antraigues and the hamlets of the valley.

➤ GAMOND BRIDGE: Cross the bridge, then on your right, facing you, join the calade taken on the way out to reach the village square. The slope is a little steep, but the finish line is very close!
