Entre Oize et Boulogne

➤ SAINT MICHEL DE BOULOGNE: Departure from the “INFO RANDO” sign, church parking lot.

Go down the main road to the first hairpin bend. Turn left at the bend onto the tarmac path that runs between the houses and then turns into a dirt road, until you reach the "Combemale" hiking signpost.

➤ COMBEMALE: Turn right onto the wide path that descends and joins the D 356, which you will follow to the left for 250 m. At a left turn, leave the road for a path that descends to the right and joins a track. Follow this track to the small road that you follow downhill to the “Boulogne” hiking sign.

This castle is private, but there is a path that allows you to walk around it outside the walls, which is well worth the detour! From the "Boulogne" signpost, take the "Château Est" direction, which leads you under the rampart and the chapel. Then continue up the path on the left to reach the gate. Return to the starting point via the small road that winds down to the "Boulogne" signpost. Please respect the tranquility of the place and private property.

➤ BOULOGNE: Continue downhill towards the river. The path crosses a bridge over the Rentiol, runs alongside the river at first, then turns away and opens onto a track. Turn right towards the Majeau farm, from where the path is paved. Go back up the road that leads to the hamlet of Devès. Continue left at the entrance to Devès until you reach the D 256.
Head right onto the D 256 for 150m then take the steep path that cuts across the bend in the road. At the top, cross the D 256 to take the dirt road signposted Pourchary in front of you. Follow this path to the "Pouchary" hiking signpost.

➤ POURCHARY: climb the path that crosses a meadow then winds under the chestnut trees before emerging, at the summit, on a hay meadow offering a magnificent panorama of the high Cévennes. The path leads to the hamlet of Escharavil which you cross. At the exit of the hamlet, join the small road to the crossroads then turn left towards La Planche de Gourdon. Follow it for 400m then at the top of the hill, take the path on the right which borders meadows, crosses a grove of Douglas firs and descends to the hiking post "La Chapelle".
