CAUTION! A magnificent dizzying passage requires caution.
This route runs along a cliff face. Aside from the risk of falling, human use of this sensitive environment must be carried out with the utmost respect to avoid disturbing nesting birds. Please observe the following recommendations, particularly during the breeding season between February and June:
– Stay discreet, nature has keen hearing
– Do not deviate from the marked path
– No throwing or stealing of objects or devices (stones, branches, drones, etc.)

➤ LAVIOLLE > Start at the “INFO RANDO” sign, opposite the church. With your back to the “INFO RANDO” sign, go down the stairs then the paved path along the stream to the road, at the old mill. Follow it to the right, cross the bridge, go through a coniferous wood (Douglas) and 300 m later go back up the path to the right, bordered by walls to the hamlet of Villaret.

➤ LE VILLARET HAUT: Follow “Aubert”

Cross the hamlet past the wash house, cross the bridge and, at the end of the road, climb the paved path through the chestnut grove and then the moors. A very beautiful view of the Volane valley and the hamlets of Chambon and Villaret. Continue to climb through the chestnut trees and Sessile oaks (or Rouvre). After crossing the stream and passing under the beech trees (beech trees), the path swings to the south where it forms a ledge in the escarpments, supported by high dry stone walls. Proceed with caution and do not stray from the path. Observe the silence for the nesting birds! Stretching out before you are the Volane valley, the Coiron plateau and, on a clear day, Mont Ventoux and the Alps. Continue to the Rouyon farm, of which only vestiges remain. Go around it and descend along the forest path that winds through the Douglas fir trees (young shoots with a lemongrass scent) to the track at the water catchment. The long descent to the hamlet of Aubert is via this winding track.

At the top of this track, notice the remains of an old charcoal burner's pot, 2 meters in diameter, below the path. This activity of transforming beech wood into charcoal, widely practiced in Laviolle, has earned the locals the nickname "black têtre".

➤ AUBERT: Follow “le Villaret bas”.

Leave the track for the small built path that plunges to the left. A splendid view of the Volane Valley awaits you. The path crosses woods and a stream before running alongside the Volane, offering some beautiful swimming spots. Follow the path to the hamlet of Villaret. At the road, go down to reach the crossroads "Le Villaret bas"
