Thieure, le belvédère

From the hilltop village of Thieure, this small loop with a typical Cévennes profile (of the slope) links the former capital of the commune of Asperjoc to the bottom of the valley where the energy of the Volane river supplied many silk thread factories until the beginning of the 20th century: the spinning mills.

In the hamlet, the neo-Romanesque church was built in 1846 in place of a chapel and the communal oven or banier, a fragment of the memory of daily life in the village. A must-see! From the bowling green, you can see the Besorgues valley and the Sainte Marguerite mountain with its transmitter culminating at 987 m.

➤ ASPERJOC (THIEURE): Start at the “INFO RANDO” sign, Place de la Mairie. Follow the direction of “Les Granges” and follow the small road to the left of the cross for 100m. At the last houses in the hamlet, go down the small stairs on the left and follow the path along the mountainside. Very beautiful view of the Volane valley and Vals-les-Bains. Go down the path that winds between the boxwood and chestnut trees to the houses of Les Granges, then the small path that plunges to the left to join the “Les Granges” post.

➤ LES GRANGES: Follow the direction of "Pont de Bridou" on the left. The path runs along the Volane River, where a mill and its canals, or "béals," are located on the other bank. In the mid-2010th century, the commune of Asperjoc had eleven mills. The one at Pont de Bridou operated until the early XNUMXs.

➤ BRIDOU BRIDUE > Follow "Asperjoc (Thieure)". Carefully (watch out for road traffic!) go up the RD 578 for about 150 m and turn left onto the path that winds through the chestnut trees. At the start of the path, you'll see the Bridou Bridge mills. At the end of the woods and meadows, you'll reach the hamlet of Thieure, your starting point.
