Château de Vogüé

Walk in the footsteps of the Marquis of Vogüé and discover the history of this castle overlooking the village of Vogüé, on the banks of the Ardèche. Historic rooms and magnificent hanging garden. Free or guided tour. Activities – game booklet.
Vogüé castle, located on the banks of the Ardèche river, 25 km from the Pont d'Arc cave, dominates one of the most beautiful villages in France. It is still today the property of one of the great families that marked the history of Vivarais, that of the Marquis de Vogüé. The visit will take you through the history of this building and of the Vogüé family, to discover its interiors such as the dungeon, the chapel or the Salle des Etats de Vivarais. From the hanging garden known as the marquise's garden, an enchanting place, you will have a splendid view of the village and the Ardèche mountains.
The castle also welcomes the visual arts in all their forms of expression: painting, sculpture; engraving; photography, ceramics, glass, etc.
At the end of your visit, you can discover our recently restored shop!

For several years, the Château de Vogüé has developed a policy aimed at responsible tourism while maintaining the quality of the site visit. To achieve this, the Château team has implemented various actions.
Several bins are available to the public at the castle for sorting waste.
Regarding the hanging garden, the newly integrated plants, flowers and shrubs are chosen according to their limited water requirements, and we do not use any chemical phytosanitary products for the maintenance of this space.
To limit paper consumption, we provide visitors with a "return bin" for the visitor guides given at the entrance to allow their reuse. We no longer print entrance tickets or receipts, except at the request of visitors. Finally, we adapt our communication materials through responsible printing by an Ardèche service provider labeled "Imprimvert".
During tastings as part of our events, we only offer products from organic farming and only use washable and therefore reusable utensils (glasses, spoons).
Some of our boutique products come from short supply chains: local publishers for our bookstore, Vogüé nougats, Ardèche fruit juice, etc. and a limitation on the number of suppliers.
Most lighting is equipped with low-energy bulbs.
Finally, the site is not equipped with air conditioning, the thickness of the castle walls proving to be a natural air conditioner!
