Village de Chirols

Overlooking the high valleys of the Ardèche and the Fontaulière, accessible from the Veyrières bridge (dam, milling ecomuseum) by a small winding road, the village is made up of several hamlets clinging to the Sainte-Marguerite mountain.

Environment
From the summit of Sainte Marguerite, 987 m, you can observe the most advanced viewpoint of the Massif Central and sometimes surprise the Alps. Magnificent landscape that will take your breath away!

History
From the village square, you have an exceptional view of the Fontaulière valley. Julius Caesar passed through there to fight Vercingetorix!

Sports & Cultural Activities: Fishing, hiking.

Curiosity
Silk Mill Ecomuseum. For centuries, silk has danced on the shingles of the Ardèche silk mills. Nestled in a vast, shaded park along the Fontaulière River, the Silk Mill Ecomuseum invites you to discover this fascinating craft. In the cool of the former silk mill, a scenographic tour showcases the skills and techniques of silk milling. Models, multimedia displays, a documentary film, visual murals, atmospheric effects, and lighting combine to create a fun and educational experience for all ages.
