Good weather guaranteed
Summer here promises long, sunny days. While we can't guarantee you won't experience any refreshing downpours during your stay, statistically speaking, the southern Ardèche climate is a sure bet.
You can plan as many outdoor activities as possible; the sky is often blue and the clouds are often there for decoration.
Hiking, kayaking, swimming, or just relaxing: everything is easier when the sun keeps pace. And in the evening, when the light fades over the ancient stones and hills, the atmosphere becomes almost magical.
Lots of entertainment
During the holidays, the Secret Ardèche comes alive. Farmers' markets, open-air concerts, festivals, evening tours, village festivals... There's always something going on. In Aubenas, Vals-les-Bains, Antraigues, or in the smaller villages, summer is joyful and lively. You'll meet artists, taste local produce, and sometimes dance in a small square. Everyone can create their own program, including cultural outings, gourmet discoveries, and good times to share.

Freshness of rivers or mountains
Southern Ardèche is known for its sunny climate. But if the sun is beating down, don't panic: there are plenty of ways to cool off: in rivers, in the shade of chestnut trees, or in the narrow streets of charming villages. If you climb a little higher, even above 1000 meters, the air is lighter and the view is generally quite incredible.
You can also go down to the banks of a river, like the Volane or the Besorgues, to bathe in a natural pool that will be guaranteed to be refreshing because the water comes straight from the mountains. The hilltop villages, the chestnut forests, and the high-altitude trails offer a real breath of fresh air.
Easy to find peace and quiet
Even in the height of summer, the Pays d'Aubenas-Vals is never crowded. It often only takes ten minutes to walk to find yourself alone in the world, on a path, by a river, in a quiet hamlet...
And then some areas are wild all year round, because they're less accessible. Around Genestelle, St-Joseph-des-Bans, Labastide-sur-Besorgues, or Juvinas, even in the middle of August, the calm of nature is unchanging. Moreover, the wildlife is very rich: beavers, otters, golden eagles, peregrine falcons, genets... it's a sign that doesn't lie.
