In Antraigues-sur-Volane, the spirit of Jean Ferrat still lingers in the steep alleyways, among the art galleries and small squares shaded by plane trees. Vinezac, to the south, offers a southern atmosphere with its stone houses and vines draped over pergolas. Aubenas Castle: Treasure of the Ardèche
It's impossible to miss: wherever you are near Aubenas, the castle's silhouette commands attention . Its elegant mass dominates the entire surrounding area, standing out against the sky and establishing itself as a true landmark. Whether you arrive from the Ardèche Valley, from the hills, or through the narrow streets of the old town, the view of the castle is always spectacular and unique. And the closer you get, the more impressive it becomes. This 13th-century masterpiece is also a living monument, recently restored to house a contemporary art center, but which has retained all its historical authenticity.
But the spectacle doesn't end outside. Inside, it's just as breathtaking . The castle regularly hosts temporary exhibitions, often astonishing, always renowned. Photography, painting, contemporary art, original installations… the works engage in a dialogue with the architecture, and each visit is different depending on the program. Secret Ardèche is also defined by a unique light —soft, pure, sculpting the landscapes and making them resonate. At sunrise, the mists in the valleys create a picture-postcard atmosphere.
