Between fertile land and essential thoroughfare, this small territory lacks the grandeur of a hilltop village or the tranquility of a forgotten hamlet… and yet, everyone passes through here . What if we finally took the time to look at Saint-Didier differently?

This town, nestled between farmland and major roads, is the heart of our region: where we farm, where we trade, where we live. It's a place we pass through, frequent, often in a hurry… but it deserves a moment's pause. You'll see, it has some real gems to offer.

Discover Saint-Didier-sous-Aubenas

A land rich in history… and in fruits

The name Saint-Didier first appears in 1080, when the lord of Aubenas offered the parish revenues to the nuns of Lavilledieu. Already, we are talking here about a gift, a settlement, and lands that provide food.

Even today, this fertile 276-hectare plain, bordered by the spectacular Jastres cliff, continues to honor this nourishing vocation. There are orchards, kiwi plantations, well-established fig trees, and even a few caves full of stories, such as the mysterious Chambrières.

Racing… but not only that

It's true: Saint-Didier-sous-Aubenas is also where you come to pick up bread, jeans, or sunscreen. It's the area's major commercial hub, with its stores, parking lots, and roundabouts.

But between two shopping trips, why not treat yourself to a real breath of fresh air? Because yes, beyond the activity zones, nature hasn't had its last word.

Trails, cliffs, and the Ardèche within easy reach

Along the river, peaceful walks await you, following the water's edge. From the Jastres oppidum, perched on the heights, the views of the Ardèche Valley and Aubenas are breathtaking—and accessible on foot.

And then there's this bridge. THE bridge. The one you can't miss: the famous yellow bridge, which spans the Ardèche like an invitation to travel. It marks the entrance to Aubenas, on the Montélimar side, and every traveler has crossed it at least once. A landmark. A passage. A memory.

Saint-Didier, the discreet essential

Close to Aubenas, connected to Vals, open to Montélimar, Saint-Didier-sous-Aubenas is a crossroads town, at the crossroads... but never on the fringes.

She welcomes you to do your shopping, to enjoy a surprise stroll, to rediscover a simple connection with the land. And if you listen carefully, she might tell you a bit of her story, between fig trees and vans.
