In the south of the Ardèche, in a soft light that belongs only to the hills of the garrigue, Vinezac lines up its medieval streets and its hundred-year-old vines like an old tale still very much alive. Between its castles with the appearance of a historical novel, its listed Romanesque church, and its landscapes sculpted by the hand of man, this village is an ode to beauty, a job well done... and a good bottle.

You wander among the terraced houses of golden stone, the winding alleyways, the covered passages… And suddenly, a medieval tower , a Renaissance mullioned window , or a vanished section of wall reappears as your gaze lingers . Yes, here, heritage hides from view, revealing itself slowly, like a fine wine left to breathe.
Here, words and stones have character
In Vinezac, it's not just a story of pretty little streets. It's a village where character is cultivated like a vine: with care, patience, and a touch of poetry. A village of character with ochre sandstone houses, and a village steeped in poetry, proud of its words, Vinezac blends the elegance of the past with the spirit of artists. Here, one walks gently, reads in hushed tones, and photographs details one thought had been forgotten. In short, a village to savor like a finely crafted verse.
The three original castles? Two remain:
- Julien's Castle, with its quadrangular keep and its ruined tower, vestiges from the 12th and 15th centuries,
- Charbonnel Castle, elegant Renaissance building in the center of the village.
As for the third, the Château de la Motte , it has disappeared, but its stones have continued their story… recycled in the houses of the village.
The church, the capitelles and the faïsses: beauty in the detail
Stop by the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation , a listed historical monument, and let yourself be surprised by its Romanesque capitals and 18th-century paintings , as vibrant as notes of Baroque music.
Around the village, the paths also tell a story: that of the Ardèche farmers , builders of terraces (known locally as " faïsses "), dry-stone shelters (known locally as " capitelles "), and small masterpieces of peasant ingenuity. Along the way, you'll also come across mills , an old spinning mill , and perhaps a winemaker whistling between two rows of vines.
Land of wine, celebration and friendship
Vinezac isn't called that for nothing: winemaking here is a thousand-year-old tradition. Nestled between the plains and the hills, the vines benefit from a generous climate, limestone soil… and a know-how passed down with passion. These are delicious and authentic Ardèche wines , to be enjoyed under the pergola or on a terrace, with tapenade or onion fougasse. A nose of red fruit, a ruby color, a finish that makes you smile… Can you picture it? That's Vinezac.
