I don't know about you, but when I go on vacation, I'm always looking for the most beautiful viewpoint, the most beautiful place to photograph, whether with my camera or my smartphone. I take with me wonderful memories that I can share with my loved ones...

It must be said that in Ardèche, there's no shortage of beautiful panoramas. Whatever the season, the spectacle is always there... In the middle of wild and unspoiled nature, we're amazed, and our camera too! So today, and just for you, I'm revealing my top 7 photo spots in Secret Ardèche.

01

The Jastres plateau

Beyond the fact that this site is home to an oppidum dating back to the first century BC, the path along the edge of the plateau offers an absolutely remarkable panorama of the Ardèche region and the Aubenas plain. From Saint-Privat, take the road towards Lussas, and at the top of the hill, you'll find a parking area on your right where you can park. Take the small hiking trail. In the distance, you can see the ruins of the Roman settlement—that's it! Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

02

The Volane Valley

Coming from Vals-les-Bains, after the village of Asperjoc, you have to take the road to the hamlet of Thieure (be careful, it's very narrow). From this road you can access an absolutely splendid viewpoint over the Volane Valley. From up there, you'll be amazed... You'll take a deep breath of fresh air and clear your mind... it feels so good!

The Escrinet Pass

I don't know about you, but every time I drive through here, I'm guaranteed to be amazed… Getting to the Col de l'Escrinet is easy: when you're in Aubenas, head towards Privas, and at the very top of the pass, you can't miss this sculpture, an iconic symbol of our beautiful Ardèche region. Park a little further up (near the birdwatching hide) and take a walk. All around you are breathtaking panoramas!

The field of Mars

This viewpoint is well worth the effort! You'll reach the summit of Champ de Mars by hiking approximately 14km. And I assure you, it's absolutely worth it! Once you're at the top, you'll forget the effort it took to earn such a panorama; you'll be speechless before its immensity. A 360° view unfolds before you, encompassing the Ardèche Mountains, the Massif Central, the Alps, and even Mont Blanc on a clear day.

The village of Antraigues-sur-Volane

How can you visit the Pays d'Aubenas-Vals region without stopping by the famous village of Jean Ferrat? Its narrow streets, its cobbled streets, its main square... the village can be photographed from all angles. But our favorite viewpoint is from the small road that descends from Genestelle. Here, the village appears like a true gem nestled in the wild setting of the Ardèche mountains.

The Ardèche mountains

Well, I admit that it's going to be very difficult for me to give you one spot more than another. The entire Ardèche mountain range is worth it. From spring onwards, flowery meadows and herds come to enhance the landscape. And when the mountain decides to don its white coat in winter, the spectacle is splendid!

Craux Castle

From this small road, it overlooks the Volane and Sandron valleys. Built on the crater of a volcano of the same name, its geographical position offers a breathtaking panorama of the Hautes-Cévennes Ardéchoises and the land of young volcanoes. And the cherry on top: you can photograph this superb view, all from your car! Classy, right?
